Daddy's Love

Today I began thinking about how much I love my daddy and how much he means to me. It doesn't matter where I am or what I am doing, I know that if I call him he will be there. He is tough yet has a sensitive heart, busy yet patient and straight forward yet kind.

He cares deeply for his children and supports all three of us in and decisions we have made for our lives.

He celebrates with us when we succeed in life and comforts us when we have let ourselves down....not let HIM down...but ourselves. He loves his children so very much and has a love like you have never witnessed for his grandchildren.

He is always there to lend a helping hand when he see's us helping ourselves. He also practices tough love when we are fallling short; which has made me, my sister and brother into the individuals we are today.

He worked so hard when we were growing up to give us all that we needed and a lot of what we wanted.

My most exciting memories from my childhood come from traveling with him. It didn't matter how long the ride was or where we were going, he found ways to make it fun whether it was a milkshake stop, a hike in the mountains or walking through a museum.

I can't imagine where I would be in life without my daddy. I thank God for blessing me with such an amazing dad.

So, daddy, I love you! You are so wonderful and you are my "bestest!"

I've Learned...

I've learned many things since becoming a mommy and a wife...I just thought I would share a few of those things.

I've learned off brands work as well as name brands many times.

I've learned it is more rewarding to save money to make a big purchase instead of charging it.

I've learned supper doesn't have to be a 4 course meal.

I've learned a made bed, clean sink, counter and floor can make your house look spotless.

I've learned paint and chalk can be as fun as going to "chuck E cheese"

I've learned, "Money doesn't grow on tree's" isn't just a phrase your parents told you when you thought they didn't want you to have something.

I've learned people will always disappoint you so you should surround yourself with those focused solely on your well being.

I've learned a hug from a child/spouse can make you feel better instantly.

I've learned life is about the simple things.

I've learned prayer is essential in daily life.

I've learned the difference a simple, "I love you, you were on my mind" can make.

I've learned to seek the good in others and to try not to judge.

I've learned to love deeply, laugh often and live happily.

Mommy You're My Bestest

On January 27th, 2006 I found out that my life was going to drastically change. I was going to be a mommy! More questions ran through my mind than I could keep up with. I felt every emotion known to humans. I wondered if I would be a good mother? I remember my mom telling me to enjoy the pregnacy and take in every moment. I stayed very sick and was in and out of the hospital until I was finally induced and gave birth to Sydney Alexis Powell on September 12, 2006 at 5:56 A.M. I remember looking at my perfect baby girl and couldn't believe that she was mine. From day one she has been such a special blessing. Today, Sydney is 3 years and 19 days old. The time has flown by way too fast. Pre k is right around the corner. She is such a social little girl and you never know what she is going to say. I don't think I have been a "Perfect" mother and I haven't done it all right in the past 3 years, but I don't know a parent who can say they have all the answers. One night about a week ago Sydney was laying in the bed with me and after we read a book she looked at me and said, "Mommy, You're my bestest!!!!" I never knew 4 words could fill my heart with so much joy and my eyes with tears, but it was in that moment that I learned I must have been doing something right the past 3 years. So to all you mommy's, I wish you all those 4 little words. Even if it isn't those exact words you hear, all words are priceless and precious when they come from our "babies." And remember, "To the world you may be a person," But to your child, you are the BESTEST!

And speaking of this, don't forget to tell your mommy that she is your bestest! :)

About Me

I love my baby girl and wonderful husband! I am finishing up my Bachelor's degree in Psychology with an emphasis in substance abuse and child psychology. God has blessed me in more ways that I ever imagined possible. I have been married to my Prince Charming for almost 4 years and together we have the sweetest, most precious 3 year old, Sydney Alexis. She is our sunshine and keeps us on our toes. Life isn't always perfect, but everyday is a blessing that should be treasured!
